Dorpsboerderij Nieuwkoop
Village Farm Nieuwkoop is a cozy little farm open to the public for both young and old to enjoy. The accommodation can be found at the Kennedyplein next to the Jumbo grocery store.
At the Village Farm you will find deer, sheep, goats, waterbirds, various types of chickens, peacocks, turkeys, pigs, squirrels, and soon we will have rabbits-again. Most of the animals are not locked in pens, but roaming free through the meadows or even across the square!
The Farm offers you a chance to get up close to the animals, pet and cuddle them, and even feed them in consultation with a volunteer. However, please do not lift the animals! Visitors may also wander out on the meadow to see the sheep and goats. Every spring there are a lot of new young animals, and these babies attract a lot of attention. All kinds of waterbirds can be seen swimming around in the pond. Poultry roam freely in the yard and the storks are permanent guests at the Farm. There is something new to experience every day, no day is the same!
The feeding and care of these animals takes daily effort from volunteers. We rely on them, and are lucky these volunteers commit to these tasks.
There is also a canteen with a terrace at the Farm, “het Kwakertje” (The Quack) where visitors can buy coffee, cappuccino, tea or lemonade. Just hang out with friends or family while enjoying a cup of coffee at the terrace or one of the other sitting areas on site.
Come on in and have a chat with one of the volunteers. You will get a nice overview of everything that comes with running a farm.
The Village Farm Nieuwkoop is a founding, largely dependent on sponsors and donors. Volunteers are, of course, very welcome.
